InterExchange Childcare Program- USA

Females between the ages of 18-26 years are given an opportunity to participate in US Department of State approved Cultural and Educational exchange programs for 1 year extendable by another year.

Program Details

InterExchange is a private non-profit organization based in New York city, and has been dedicated to promoting international understanding through cross cultural educational opportunities since 1970. Thousands of young people have benefited from 'Au Pair' USA programs in more than 35 countries worldwide.

Au Pair Meaning & Opportunity

Young people are given an opportunity to participate in "Au Pair USA" Cultural & Educational Exchange programs for 1 year. 'Au Pair' means 'on par' or equal. Under this program an 'Au Pair' resides with a carefully screened American family to assist with childcare while participating in educational opportunities. 'Au Pair' interacts with the family as an extended, member of the family itself.

What the Program Provides.

  • Opportunity to live in America, & know its culture.

  • Placement with carefully screened host family.

  • Opportunity to improve educational qualification in USA.

  • A private room & all meals in the host family's house.

  • Free medical insurance cover upto US$ 75,000.

  • Weekly payment of app. $160 as payment for 45 hours of childcare services to the host family.

  • $500 tuition fee allowances for educational expenses.

  • On arrival training & orientation sessions in New York.

  • An optional 13th month's stay at the end of the program year to travel in the US.

  • Two weeks paid vacation in the US & at least one complete weekend off (From Friday evening - Monday morning), each month.

  • An exchange visitor J-1 visa, the only legal means for non-American citizens to participate in 'Au Pair USA Program'.
     

Who is a Typical Au Pair

A typical 'Au Pair' applicant is in the age group 18-26, should have interest in traveling to US to gain first hand knowledge to other cultures. They may not be professionals in child care. They may have gained childcare experience through baby-sitting for children of neighbors, friends or relatives.

Many applicants are students who have either finished their secondary school and wish to go abroad for 1 year before completing their education, while some intend to have an experience of international environment, so that it is beneficial for them in their own careers.

Who can Apply for 'Au Pair' program.

  • Age 18 - 26 years of age. (Preferably females)

  • Person enjoying caring for children and has childcare experience.

  • Ability to speak & understand in English.

  • A minimum secondary school (12th grade) pass.

  • In good health, and is a non smoker.

  • A licensed driver of a 4 wheeler with minimum 50 hours of driving experience.

  • Prepared to commit 12 months away from home.

  • A good character with no history of misconduct.
